Priorities in Choosing Vendors

General Priorities (in order from highest priority to lowest priority)

1. Diversity of products:  Allowing more the one vendor that sells the same or similar products that are already represented in the market  is determined by customer demand.  While no vendor is given 100% exclusivity, there may be a lengthy waiting period until the demand grows or the current vendor(s) is no longer selling at the market.

2. Local produced goods.

3. Vendors who are willing to commit to both the Mission Valley Farmers Market and the Point Loma Farmers Market

4. Vendors who have shown dedication by regularly coming to the market on a stand-by basis. (more information on the stand-by process below)

Priorities on Types of Products (in order from highest priority to lowest priority)

1. Certified Producers (fruits, vegetables, flowers, plants)

2. Fresh fish, meats and fresh made foods.

3. Local Artisans (products handmade by the vendors locally)

4. Fair Trade and Environmentally Friendly products (imported items with the fair trade certification or sufficient evidence of being a "green" product)

5. Unique products that fit with the market ("fitting" with the market is at the Market Managers discretion)

6. Manufactured Items (very limited space for manufactured items - priority on cookware, and food related manufactured items)

7.  Commercial products and services (large companies, contractors/builders, solar companies, etc. - different fees apply)

Not admitted in the market:

1. Produce not grown in California.
2. Multi-level marketing, network marketing and pyramid scheme groups.
3. Health screenings by for-profit organizations.
4. Religious groups
5. Political groups that can be considered partisan or controversial (neutral voter registration booths may be permitted)
6. Hawkers (vendors who are overly aggressive to customers as the walk by)
7. Real Estate Agents, Insurance Agents, Talent Scouts, Financial Advisors, and any other business that the Market Manager does not see as a good fit for the farmers market.

Stand-by Option:

Any vendor may show-up prior to opening on the market day for "Stand-By" status. If we have a regular vendor call in at the last minute and cannot make it to the market that day we will often give that spot to a stand-by vendor if their product is a good fit.

It is recommended to arrive at least one hour before the market opens for stand-by status.

Entertainment Vendors: ( balloon artists, face painters, artistic name painter, clowns, characture artists, jumpy house inflatables. animals rides, etc.)

There is no fee to be at the market, nor will we pay you to be at the market.  You may sell your art and services.

At this time it is a first come first serve basis, if two or more entertainment vendors do not mind both being at the market at the same time, that is purely up to them, however the first to arrive has priority if there are any concerns.

Paid Musicians:

We have a monthly rotating schedule of paid musicians, if you would like to audition please submit an application online describing your type of music and any links that will allow us to listen to a sample of your music.
